We Did More Than Show Sheep!!!

This is extremely late, but life has been hectic...to say the least. This year's show season was fast and furious. We started by getting our "big black" ready for San Antonio. The weather was perfect and we were able to do it at the house. This is Ron finishing up the legs.
The black was Nolan's favorite and the one that he would work with when I told him he needed to go work with all his lambs. To say that this lamb was well prepared and the others were lacking is an understatement.

Move in day at San Antonio is hard. I caught Nolan taking a nap. Isn't he cute???

This judge was very different. He took more time and wanting the kids to SHOW their animal. We couldn't have asked Nolan to do any better. He was totally focused on the judge and showed perfect. Unfortunately our black wasn't what the judge was looking for so we went to the truck. Nolan was very disappointed, but couldn't take much time to fret. We had to get home and get 5 more lambs ready for San Angelo show.

We were able to talk Karli into helping. She hadn't lost her touch and she, Nolan and I had 5 lambs washed, dried, sheared and blanketed in about 4 hours. That's pretty impressive!

We had a true assembly line going.

This is Nolan with his finewool.

This is him with one of his crossbreds. It was a loooonnnnggg day. I didn't get pictures of him with each of his lambs. It was kinda hit and miss.

The final lamb to show was our southdown. Ron and I had a difference of opinions on whether or not to take this lamb and show him. He was on the fat side and Ron really didn't think it would do any good. I was hoping that since Nolan had done well with him at County that we just might "pull something off".
Nolan got pulled. This is him and his lamb at the classification ring. You probably can't tell, but he was REALLY excited. He's just acting really cool for the classification judges.

He continued showing his heart out and pulled an 8th place out of the show. He was "in the money." First time for him. We were thrilled to say the least. Our great day fueled us up for next. Can't wait to see what we get next year.
