Our "New" Bedroom

After nearly 19 years of marriage Ron and I purchased new bedroom furniture a couple of months ago. It hasn't all come in, but I spent the weekend (Ron & Nolan went on a hunting trip) painting and re-decorating our room. Whitni came over early Saturday to help me. We spent all day painting the walls "Oatmeal." I am really proud of how it turned out.

I really am in love with my new bedding. I love red!! I found it in the 50% off area at Dillard's. My mom bought the bedspread for an early birthday gift for me & Ron. I found this cool wall art at Kohl's in Abilene when Mom, Whitni and I went to visit Camp & Cash (Shirla & Nicole, too). I had my heart set on the the saying "Always kiss me goodnight." But when Whitni found this one (Just one lifetime won't be enougth for us) it was one I hadn't seen before, so that made it perfect. I even had new pictures of everyone to put on my "picture wall". Whitni had made me this collage of engagement pictures for Christmas and we had family pictures made for our church's pictorial directory late last summer.

Whitni made me a really cool sign to put in the middle of them. We had gone shopping to find something and couldn't find one anywhere. So she went to Michaels for the paper and made it herself. Decorating on a budget can be really special.

Without Whitni's help I would still be painting. Thanks bunches Whit!!

Dominoes...Anyone???

I have just returned home from visiting PawPaw. We moved him yesterday to the "Memory Care" side of Myrtlewood. When I arrived tonight for my visit he was not sitting in his room, he was sitting in the dining/sitting area with a smile on his face. As Nolan and I sat down to visit Monica (the director) brought over a wooden toolbox that had several doors with different types of latches, and big wooden nuts and bolts inside. He and Nolan enjoyed discovering how to open each door and putting the nuts and bolts together. When Mom, Dad and Uncle Bill arrived we decided to see what PawPaw would do if we started playing dominoes. What he did was put the toolbox away and ask to play...and play he did. He remembered how to shuffle, draw and place each dominoe. Nolan didn't want to leave he was having so much fun playing dominoes with PawPaw.

Lunch with PawPaw

Mom and I took my PawPaw to eat at one of our favorite restaurants, Blanek's Village Cafe, yesterday. We have known the owner of this cafe for years and they serve good family food...incredible hot rolls. I think PawPaw enjoyed it too. He ate chicken & dumplins, 3 hot rolls and for desert he wanted apple cobbler. When we got him back to his apartment he said, "We'll have to do that again." It was a fun day.

Fun Family Times!

On March 20th my cousin, Nicole, had a her 2nd baby boy. My mom, Whitni and I went to Abilene to visit when Cash Douglas was 8 days old. Let me tell you he's a doll!! It has been years since I've held a tiny newborn. We had a great day of visiting, holding the baby, and enjoying being together.

Nicole and Cash were so sweet together.

He made the cutest noises and faces!

To top it all off.....I got to play with Camp, Cash's big brother. What a great little boy! I had a blast watching him play with his new remote control car. It was a great day spent with family.
