Trip to Buffalo Gap

We took a trip to Buffalo Gap a couple of weeks ago. The bluebonnets were just starting to bloom.

I went with Patti, Bill and Kit. We went so that my Pawpaw's marker from the VA could be placed. Bill did a great job of creating the cement base and he and Kit leveled the perfect spot.

It was such a peaceful time to remember one of America's soldiers, a devoted husband, a loving father and a spoiling Pawpaw!! I'm blessed to be one of "his."

3 Down and 1 to Go

Nolan has completed 3 stock shows and we have 1 left next week. So far a lot of fun has been had and a LOT of work has been done.
This is Nolan at the small school show that starts the season off. It's a practice type show to help the kids get all the "bugs" worked out of their systems. Nolan is usually pretty rusty, but this year he had worked harder than in years passed. He hit the ground running so to speak. He's gotten so big and has so much more strength to handle the lambs. His showing ability has really improved.

Here he is competing at the San Antonio Stock show this past week. Notice the pink shirt. He has gotten VERY particular about his show shirts. I have always tried to get him dark colored shirts to show in because lamb snot is hard to get out of cloth (sorry for the graphic description). But this year he said pink was his lucky color.

Here he is walking his lamb into the ring. The pink shirt didn't bring him luck in San Antonio, so we are looking for a "pull" in Angelo next week. Be watching for results and a post!!

Where Did the Summer GO???

Not sure where the whole summer went. The first half of the summer was spent planning Heath & Whitni's wedding. Before we knew it July 16 was here and the wedding was upon us. It turned out to be a GREAT wedding. Everyone enjoyed the food and dancing.
Whitni was a beautiful bride and Heath didn't look too bad either. :)

I think our family looks pretty good with the new addition. Heath just fits in with us like he was meant to be part of our family. I'm thinking that's not coincidence.

This sweet little girl was the cutest flower girl in all of history. She took her job very serious. She threw the rose petals out and then she picked them all up...then she threw them all out and then....you get the picture. Flower petals were the best intertainment for her during the wedding. She was very quietly doing her job...over and over and over.

This is Whitni with her bridesmaids.

Everyone is back in school and it's all a memory now....BUT...what a memory.

21 YEARS!!!

Today Ron and I celebrate 21 years of marriage. I love him more today than I did the day I married him. God surely smiled down on us when He put us in each others lives. I love you, Babe!!

Bye for Now....

Wow...can't believe it's June already. Our spring really flew by. At the end of February we moved my Pawpaw to a new facility that could provide more care for him.

On Easter Saturday, April 23, he passed away. I have found that having those extra hours in my days are kind of lonely. This is the last pictures I took of him. I'll always remember his sweet smile.

Thanks for all the trips to parks and the McDonalds treats. I love and miss you loads.

We Did More Than Show Sheep!!!

This is extremely late, but life has been hectic...to say the least. This year's show season was fast and furious. We started by getting our "big black" ready for San Antonio. The weather was perfect and we were able to do it at the house. This is Ron finishing up the legs.
The black was Nolan's favorite and the one that he would work with when I told him he needed to go work with all his lambs. To say that this lamb was well prepared and the others were lacking is an understatement.

Move in day at San Antonio is hard. I caught Nolan taking a nap. Isn't he cute???

This judge was very different. He took more time and wanting the kids to SHOW their animal. We couldn't have asked Nolan to do any better. He was totally focused on the judge and showed perfect. Unfortunately our black wasn't what the judge was looking for so we went to the truck. Nolan was very disappointed, but couldn't take much time to fret. We had to get home and get 5 more lambs ready for San Angelo show.

We were able to talk Karli into helping. She hadn't lost her touch and she, Nolan and I had 5 lambs washed, dried, sheared and blanketed in about 4 hours. That's pretty impressive!

We had a true assembly line going.

This is Nolan with his finewool.

This is him with one of his crossbreds. It was a loooonnnnggg day. I didn't get pictures of him with each of his lambs. It was kinda hit and miss.

The final lamb to show was our southdown. Ron and I had a difference of opinions on whether or not to take this lamb and show him. He was on the fat side and Ron really didn't think it would do any good. I was hoping that since Nolan had done well with him at County that we just might "pull something off".
Nolan got pulled. This is him and his lamb at the classification ring. You probably can't tell, but he was REALLY excited. He's just acting really cool for the classification judges.

He continued showing his heart out and pulled an 8th place out of the show. He was "in the money." First time for him. We were thrilled to say the least. Our great day fueled us up for next. Can't wait to see what we get next year.

What's Been Happening Around our House!!

It's that time of year again around our house. Just 3 short weeks after Christmas is our first stock show of the season. Karli even got a chance to get in the ring again, when Nolan had 2 lambs in the same class.
They are both showing Nolan's fine wool lambs.
We are leaving EARLY Monday morning for San Antonio stock show. We are really hoping that Nolan makes the sale. The lamb we are taking has done very well and is looking good. Be watching for results.

Last weekend we got to celebrate someones 2nd birthday. Tagun turns 2 on Valentine's Day. Whitni and Heath had a party for her.
Aunt KK helping her blow out her candles.

Opening her presents was so much fun and she got lots of pretty things.
She even waited patiently for Whitni to put her new baby stroller together.
Then she promptly put a baby in the stroller and took it for a ride. I'm not sure who had more fun her or us. We love our Punkin Little!!!
